About the GDE.ge Project

Our Mission

Georgia Domain Explorer (GDE) is a comprehensive statistical overview of the Georgian internet. We provide analytics of the .GE domain zone, including short domain name search, overall zone analytics, and browsing domains by registration date. By exploring Georgia’s digital landscape, we have created the first comprehensive public database of .ge domains, designed for open analysis and the study of the local web ecosystem.

Our Principles

The GDE.ge project is entirely non-commercial and was created out of an interest in data and the technologies shaping the Georgian internet. All work is conducted for research and educational purposes. By making this data transparent and accessible, we aim to support the development and visibility of the .ge domain zone and the broader digital ecosystem.

Research Analytics

In addition to the public analytics available to all visitors, the GDE.ge project develops a direction of in-depth research on the Georgian internet based on collected data from the .GE domain zone.

The project’s database covers nearly all .ge domains and includes technical parameters, infrastructure data, website screenshots, and results of content analysis using modern data processing techniques and large language models.

This makes it possible to create thematic and technical data sets, analyze related projects, study the evolution of specific segments of the Georgian web, and conduct custom research tailored to specific research questions.

As part of the project’s development, experimental methods of semantic content analysis are being explored, including vector representations of web pages, which in the future may enable semantic search across the entire .GE domain zone.
